At Last Some Real Progress

15th August 2007

Just a quick update after the announcement made by the CVO at 12.45.

Attched are the statements made by the CVO and the CORE Group. The welfare movements that become operational from midnight tonight are also included together with the proposed timings for the introduction of collection centres and the return to normal trading.

The detail of the protocols required by collection centres is now been firmed up by the Core Group and we hope that those members who wish to become operational can be licensed in the near future. We will, of course, let you know as soon as we know when you can apply. Defra is aware of the timeliness of this situation and the need for a lead in time.

Whilst the red markets are not included, which is a disappointment, we feel the proposed timelines, subject to no further outbreaks that could allow us to be trading normally on or soon after the 8th September is a greater prize to capture. We will keep you posted of any further developments.
